PURPOSE OF JOB :

The Outside Business Development Manager I will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious regional Independent, Chain, and Distributor accounts acquisition and revenue growth objectives by identifying, developing a relationship with new and existing Accounts in these Trade Channels.

The Outside Business Development Manager I will also play a pivotal role in assisting and working with the National Director of Outside Sales with growth for new and existing Accounts to the annual goals set by the company.

Ideal candidate should live in Southern California, preferably, LA County and Ventura County areas.

Products Sold : Tobacco Products and OTP Other Tobacco Products and accessories within the full inventory line of Phillips & King International.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Identifies new Independent, Chain, and Distributor accounts through research, referrals, and other trade activities that qualify as a potential account per the definitions set by Phillip & King (P&K)
  • Independent, Chain, and Distributor Accounts are defined as retail and distributor accounts with

product sales that are conducive to P&K product lines.

  • Cultivate lasting and profitable partnerships with new prospects and Independent, Chain, and Distributor Accounts
  • Contacts and establishes agreements with decision makers at assigned Independent, Chain, and Distributor Accounts to meet Company, National Outside Sales Director, and Outside Sales Manager goals.
  • Interaction with customers is achieved through business correspondence, phone and Zoom and

In-person presentations.

  • Manages the sales to existing Independent, Chain, and Distributor accounts assigned by National Director of Outside Sales to meet or exceeds company goals.
  • Provides monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on each new and existing assigned account that include but are not limited to;

Annual and quarterly goals, percentage achievement of goals, health of the account including key risk factors and opportunities, potential new product introduction, feedback on existing product placement and sales.

  • Consistently provide assigned accounts market feedback developed by the Outside Sales Accounts Team provides P&K leadership with feedback from assigned accounts to help drive business decision / strategies.
  • Participates in P&K tradeshows and assists in planning and supporting tradeshows for assigned and other Outside Sales Team accounts.
  • Develops a territory that maximizes P&K annual objectives by assessing the right Independent, Chain, and Distributor accounts to expand into.
  • Plans for weekly and monthly Independent, Chain, and Distributor calls ensuring proper tools and resources accompany your work week to include POS material and executing account priorities.
  • Make Independent, Chain, and Distributor account calls adhering to P&K call step, the recording account conditions, and recapping work achieved.
  • Selling Phillips & King product lines to Key Decision Makers in order to improve and optimize P&K proprietary brands (and other P&K brands) positioning.

Always striving to sell in new items, improve consumer awareness, and place POS materials.

  • Maintain records and timely reporting of retail and distributor accounts sales orders, distribution, and merchandising activities.
  • Handling all administrative aspects of the job to include travel plans, and expense reports.
  • Report competitive activity to National Director of Outside Sales.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Customer service mindset to ensure internal / external partners receive quality support
  • Experience managing Sales Team is a plus.
  • Strong desire for learning and building a solid career foundation
  • Ability to interpret and understand sales reports and internal data for use in sales presentations.
  • College degree preferred or 3 to 5 years of experience working as an Outside Sales preferably in the Tobacco industry calling on regional independents, chains, and distributor accounts.
  • Ability to accept strategic guidance from Headquarter Leadership and specific account opportunities.
  • Possess the ability to coordinate and work closely with National Director of Outside Sales and Outside Sales Team to support sales and growth execution within assigned accounts
  • Ability to work cross functionally to execute all account initiatives in specific accounts / markets.
  • Good oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills.
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) experience
  • The ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the United States
  • The ability to store and maintain sample products, displays and POS.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

General office environment, ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to move about the office. The ability to lift 25lb up to 50lbs occasionally.
