Job description

Project Manager

Vierbicher is a team of professional engineers, planners, community development specialists, land surveyors and GIS specialists who provide comprehensive solutions for a wide range of projects. Our goal is to provide clients with creative consulting services and quality products, enabling them to efficiently and effectively meet their goals. We work to build strong relationships with our clients that promote trust, cooperation and teamwork.

Now in our 50th year, we are proud to be an employee-owned firm recognized by Zweig Group as one of 2026's Best Firms To Work For, our fourth time earning the honor, and named to its Hot Firm list of the fastest-growing firms in the industry. We believe that recognition reflects the people behind it, the same people who own the firm and shape its future.

The Project Manager is the primary client and project owner, responsible for the successful execution of multiple public and/or private civil site design projects across Wisconsin. This role oversees the entire project lifecycle, from initial consultation and scope definition to final closeout. Key responsibilities include managing client relationships, ensuring financial profitability, delegating resources, preparing contracts and budgets, and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary client manager and point of contact, striving to build strong, long-term relationships and maintain current relationships with high-value clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive project proposals, including detailed scopes of services and accurate fee estimates.
  • Review customer specifications for accuracy and proactively communicate with the client regarding changes that may impact project scope or fees.
  • Prepare project billing/invoices and actively follow up with clients to ensure the timely payment of invoices.
  • Create and monitor project scope, design schedules, budgets, and contracts to ensure profitability and on-time delivery.
  • Designate and manage project resources effectively, delegating work, monitoring progress, and reviewing completed deliverables for quality control.
  • Assess projects to reduce and actively manage risks, ensuring that sound risk management practices are consistently applied across all assignments.
  • Collaborate with the project team and stakeholders to coordinate and finalize all critical project decisions.
  • Provide effective mentorship and guidance to entry-level and mid-level project engineers on best practices in financial management, client communication, and overall project delivery.
  • Lead and motivate project teams in a fast-paced environment, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
