Program Summary:

Taimon Booton Navigation Center (TBNC) is a shelter and service center for transgender, gender non-conforming & intersex people, as well as cisgender women, to find sanctuary, community, and a pathway to housing. We offer beds, meals, showers, laundry facilities, medical services, case management, recreational activities and community. It is our hope that everyone who stays at the Taimon Booton Navigation Center leaves feeling safer, more supported, and on their way to stable housing.

Role Summary:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for general oversight and supervision of the day-to-day operations, programming, staffing, and client services at TBNC. The Shift Supervisor is part of the leadership team and is the central point of contact and responsible for responding to the needs of both staff and participants, in addition to support the team wherever needed and address escalated issues as they arise. The Shift Supervisor will take part in the shared work of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team to provide a nurturing, welcoming and safe place for people to shelter and explore options for permanent housing.

Essential Duties:

• Strong professional and polite behavior towards clients and staff
• Strong boundaries with guests and staff
• Ensure staff are on-site and equipped to provide the best service to program clients and ensure consistent provision of services.
• Create a safe and welcoming environment for clients, dealing with day to day situations that may pop up; escalating serious issues to Site Director
• Provide guidance, leadership, and consultation to staff with the support of the Director
• Participate in the implementation of the policies and procedures of TBNC.
• Participate in shift meetings.
• Complete daily shift reports and communicate with Leadership team of any incident immediately
• Attend shifts on time and be reliable
• Work with extreme integrity doing the right things when no one is watching
• Regularly meet with staff and participants to address any disciplinary actions and accountability to ensure a trauma informed client experience
• Ensure that TBNC staff are familiar and up-to-date on trainings and understand and adhere to TBNC policy manual.
• De-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
• Multi-task and remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Work on weekends and/or holidays as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related field. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
• At least one year of experience working with people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, genders identities, sexual orientations, people who use substances, including injection drugs, those experiencing homelessness, people with mental health challenges, people with disabilities, and people living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C
• Comfortable and culturally competent in working with LGBTQ communities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data, and communications.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated reliability and good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, written communication skills in English. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and have ability to work professionally and ethically within multi-racial and multicultural settings.
• Be able to provide customer service in an effective, courteous and friendly manner and meet the needs of diverse clientele.
• Some evening and weekend hours required.
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, complete with booster shot(s) and able to show proof of vaccination.
• Up to date with vaccinations, especially seasonal flu shot vaccine.
• Proof of TB clearance (issued within the past 12 months).
