Job description

Senior Manager, Kentucky Cancer Program

The Senior Manager will help lead operations of the Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP), the state mandated cancer control program, for Western Kentucky including Metro Louisville. This individual will work with the KCP Director and the KCP Cancer Control Specialist who leads operations for the Kentucky Cancer Program's Regional Offices in Western Kentucky to facilitate, implement, evaluate, and report cancer control programs for the public, health care professionals, and patients/survivors on behalf of the University of Louisville.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, present, and evaluate education, outreach, and training programs for the public, health care professionals, and cancer patients/survivors/families utilizing both traditional and virtual technology.
  • Develop and implement, cancer prevention, screening, and care campaigns utilizing print materials, video, television, radio, newspaper, and social media in collaboration with a graphic design and advertising team.
  • Coordinate and promote clinical cancer screenings in collaboration with the Brown Cancer Center Screening Van. Supervise the nurse who is delivering the clinical services for the Kentucky Women's Cancer Screening Program.
  • Assist with the management of the daily operations of the Kentucky Cancer Program including the supervision of staff, development of plans, oversight of budget/expenditures, and supervision of cancer control services. Prepare program reports for administrators and funding entities. Assist with KCP fiscal affairs as requested, approving workday entries, procard charges, expenditures, travel, and other.
  • Help lead local and statewide meetings to plan special cancer control initiatives; to develop statewide program plans; and to coordinate contract/grant deliverables.
  • Assist in securing financial support from private foundations and government agencies for cancer control projects; manage associated operations; and prepare reports and publications. Administer KCP state contracts as requested by the KCP Director including budget negotiations, purchases, contract deliverables and reports.
  • Identify and engage stakeholders, community leaders, healthcare partners, medical providers, the media, business leaders, government officials and agencies, social groups and others to serve as project partners and to serve on the District Cancer Council as program advisors; nurture relationships for continued participation; and lead/participate in cancer control coalitions and partnerships.
  • Keep abreast of current research, scientific findings, and resources from local, state, and national organizations; participate in state and national professional conferences including presentations and exhibits to disseminate and secure information.
  • Serve as the spokesperson for KCP including interviews with the press, speaking at news conferences, coordinating news coverage, emceeing public events, and fostering relationships with media outlets through the UL Office of Communications.
  • Submit data to the statewide KCP database; work with staff to keep the Pathfinder up to date.

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Degree in health administration, communications, public administration, or public health.
  • Working knowledge of the Kentucky Cancer Program. Extensive cancer control experience and knowledge of cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship; established working relationships with Kentucky health care organizations, systems, government agencies, and non-profit organizations; and a successful track record in communications and coordinating programs for the public, health care professionals, and cancer patients/survivors.
  • Skills to mentor colleagues, lead teams, guide program development, negotiate contracts and collaborations, work with graphic design and production teams, and successfully navigate systems to achieve program goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to develop presentations through traditional and virtual platforms as well as execute programs via social media are critical to success.
  • Understand cancer control across the continuum of disease and be able to communicate it to diverse audiences as well as be able to develop relationships and proposals to secure resources for programs and to deliver desired outcomes. A commitment to health equity is important.

Target Compensation Maximum: $110,400.00

Target Compensation Minimum: $73,600.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
