Position Overview Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174‑bed, private psychiatric center located in beautiful, sunny Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24‑hour emergency services and offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults, as well as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and ECT services for adults. Our treatment philosophy is based on a team approach that treats patients with dignity and respect while delivering high‑quality care. Position Summary The Financial Counselor is responsible for maintaining records in patient accounting, insurance reimbursement and billing and collection processing. This role will also verify insurance benefits on all admissions and monitor potential admissions; handle collections for self‑pay accounts throughout a patient’s stay. Job Duties Assist with obtaining required income documentation and forms for patients who qualify for Charity/Indigent Care. Make necessary phone calls and generate letters to patients and/or family members for any self‑pay balances. Takes an active role in attaining and maintaining accounts receivable and assist in reviewing/selecting accounts to be placed with outside collection agencies. Two (2) years’ experience working in health care verifications and self‑pay collections preferred. Ability to deal with diverse and stress‑related situations in a calm manner. Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Must have good organizational and computer technical skills and have the ability to set priorities.
