Job description
Responsibilities

Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking Chief Clinical Office. If you're passionate about working in the behavioral health setting and have the desire to lead a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to serving our patients, we want to hear from you!

The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and provides strategic direction, oversight, and leadership for all clinical services throughout Sierra Vista Hospital. The CCO is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, workforce development, service innovation, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care across the organization.

The CCO oversees key clinical departments including Clinical Services, Therapeutic Activity, hospital’s internship, practicum, and professional training programs and provide support to Medical Stabilization Unit, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission, strategic priorities, and regulatory requirements. The CCO partners with executive leadership to improve quality outcomes, develop future leaders, strengthen community partnerships, and implement evidence-based and trauma-informed practices throughout the organization.

The Chief Clinical Officer serves as the organization’s executive leader for clinical excellence, workforce development, innovation, trauma-informed systems transformation, behavioral health education, and community engagement.


Qualifications

Education: Doctoral degree preferred; master’s degree required from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.

Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible clinical leadership experience within behavioral health, psychiatric, or healthcare settings, including at least five (5) years of supervisory or management experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards, Title 22 regulations, CMS requirements, and best behavioral health practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance improvement, program development, staff development, and organizational leadership.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and implementing organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong public speaking, training, and presentation skills.

A. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with executive leadership in the development and execution of organizational strategic plans, service line expansion, market growth initiatives, and long-term operational planning.
  • Provide oversight of key clinical departments including Clinical Services, Therapeutic Activity, hospital’s internship, practicum, and professional training programs and provide support to Medical Stabilization Unit, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission, strategic priorities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains organization-wide standards for clinical excellence, patient care, and evidence-based practice.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates strategic clinical initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides clinical expertise and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team regarding organizational initiatives, service development, regulatory requirements, and patient care strategies.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of hospital-wide clinical programs and services.
  • Leads clinical workforce development efforts, including leadership training, succession planning, mentorship programs, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Develops and facilitates hospital-wide trainings focused on clinical best practices, trauma-informed care, patient engagement, and professional development.
  • Monitors clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction measures, staff performance indicators, and key quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Reviews, develops, and updates clinical policies, procedures, and practice standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Provides oversight and direction for Joint Commission readiness, Title 22 compliance, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Leads hospital-wide initiatives focused on quality improvement, patient experience, staff engagement, and organizational culture.
  • Promotes the integration of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care throughout the organization.
  • Evaluates opportunities for service expansion, program development, and innovative treatment approaches.
  • Participates in the development, management, and monitoring of departmental budgets and resource allocation for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Serves as executive sponsor for clinical committees, special projects, and organizational initiatives as assigned.
  • Provides executive oversight of the hospital’s internship, practicum, and professional training programs, ensuring high-quality learning experiences and development of future behavioral health professionals.
  • Develops and maintains academic partnerships with universities, training programs, and professional organizations to support workforce development, recruitment, and clinical education initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
