Project Controls Estimator
This is a contract-to-direct position lasting 6 months. Initially, you will work in the office in Ann Arbor five days a week, with the potential for a hybrid schedule after demonstrating your ability to deliver results effectively. You will handle 50-100 quotes annually, managing 5-6 simultaneously each week. Your primary focus will be on developing and reviewing capital and construction cost estimates across various market sectors, primarily within the power/utility industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates.
- Work on estimates ranging from order of magnitude for planning purposes to definitive for proposal comparison.
- Demonstrate understanding and ability to interpret construction plans and specifications for cost estimates.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters.
- Coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate scope and schedule data.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting, EPC construction methods, and general construction industry practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, cost estimating, and project control software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to being an active participant in an employee-owned culture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certifications such as AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, EIT.
- Knowledge and proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Sage, Assemble, RS Means).
- Experience in the construction industry, specifically in Waste, Power, or Industrial sectors.
- Ability to interpret construction schedules.
Work Environment
Initially, you will work in the office five days a week. After proving your ability to impact work and function independently, a hybrid schedule may be offered. The position requires working with various estimating software, and familiarity with industry-standard tools is beneficial.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $62.50/hr.
