Job description
Supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record (EHR) program, the full-time Senior Data Scientist - VA will lead advanced statistical modeling, AI/ML evaluation, and data governance while ensuring data quality and operational analytics for healthcare modernization efforts. Key responsibilities Lead statistical modeling and analytic decision support for VA EHR modernization and operational reporting Design and evaluate statistical and machine learning models, assessing quality, reliability, and operational usefulness Serve as a data governance and quality assurance point of contact, identifying defects and reporting inconsistencies across datasets Required qualifications 5+ years of experience in data science, statistics, machine learning, or health informatics within complex enterprise or healthcare environments Advanced degree in statistics, data science, computer science, or a related quantitative field Strong foundation in theoretical and applied statistics, including modeling and diagnostics Advanced proficiency in R for statistical computing and reproducible analytics Experience with Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development
