Job description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Mid-Level System Administrator to manage and secure enterprise IT infrastructure in support of MDA ground test events. This role oversees daily operations, maintenance, support, and upgrades of complex systems, servers, and workstations.

The administrator will lead software installations, upgrades, and configuration in alignment with IT policies and procedures. Strong expertise is required in Linux, Dell server hardware, Cisco networking, containerization, and cloud networks. The role also supports cybersecurity posture, ATO management, and compliance to ensure mission success.

Responsibilities :

  • Administer and maintain Linux-based systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Dell servers and Cisco networking equipment.
  • Support containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and ensure reliable deployment of mission applications.
  • Manage cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure for performance, availability, and security.
  • Provide direct technical support during MDA ground test events, ensuring uptime and rapid issue resolution.
  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls, patching, and hardening of systems.
  • Support ATO documentation, security assessments, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and test teams to ensure mission readiness.

Required Qualifications :

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelors degree preferred, or an Associate in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in systems administration.
  • Some travel and shift work may be required during test events.
  • Clearance Requirements : Active or eligible for DoD Security Clearance.
  • Linux System Administration (Expert) installation, patching, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Server & Network Infrastructure (IntermediateExpert) Dell PowerEdge hardware, Cisco routers / switches, VLANs, firewalls.
  • Cybersecurity & ATO (IntermediateExpert) DISA STIGs, RMF process, security documentation.

    • Desired Tools / Technologies :

  • Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Dell PowerEdge, iDRAC management.
  • Cisco IOS, NX-OS.
  • RMF, DISA STIGs, eMASS, ACAS, Nessus.
  • Splunk / ELK for monitoring and security logging.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
  • AWS / Azure cloud networking.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Event Support (Intermediate) hands-on support for test events, troubleshooting under pressure.
  • Containerization (Intermediate) Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Cloud Networking (Intermediate) AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments.
