Position Summary

FCI Basics, an Amphenol business approaching $500 million in annual revenue, is seeking a driven, hunter-style Business Development Manager to develop new opportunities and grow strategic customer relationships across North America.

FCI Basics operates globally, with offices and operations across the United States, France, China, India, Mexico, Indonesia, Tunisia, and other international locations. Our solutions support high-growth markets including robotics, energy storage, automotive, IT and telecommunications, hyperscalers, AI and data centers, and other emerging technologies.

Our customer's success depends on our ability to solve their technical challenges and provide interconnect solutions. We value our relationships with these companies and depend on our Sales and Field Applications Engineering Teams to foster this ongoing partnership. As a Customer Engineer you will interface with our customers, internal product development, product marketing, and sales teams, performing as an extension of Basics BU engineering team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role is critical to supporting Amphenol’s ambitious growth in diverse markets like Automotive, Robotics, Energy Storage & AI infrastructure, ensuring reliable, efficient and scalable hardware and interconnect designs.
  • You’ll work with customers to develop solutions that address their needs and satisfy the technical requirements.
  • The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PCB design and development, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and design.
  • Proficiency with at least one PCB/electrical design tool such as Altium, Cadence/OrCAD, PADS, KiCad, or equivalent is required.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and engineering fundamentals, including power distribution, voltage/current, circuit protection, grounding, and basic analog/digital electronics is expected.
  • Accurately access customer's needs, matching them with current products or propose modifications to current products and/or propose new product concepts for further development
  • This engineer will be responsible for challenging existing designs and using first principles’ approach to innovating and accelerating new products in the roadmap.
  • Create technical presentations to propose concepts, present solutions to the customers
  • Lead internal design reviews and the product development meeting with the customers
  • Proficient in internal systems: Windchill, product configurators, Creo etc.
  • Ability to create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, drawings, specifications, test plans, and technical reports.

  • Ability to perform hands-on prototyping, testing, debugging, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Engage product engineer, CAE engineer, process engineer and all relevant project teams members when needed to support; facilitate lab testing to support design proposals
  • Help devise strategies to differentiate our products and solutions from our competitors, propose technical product improvements
  • Develop a trusted adviser relationship with engineering teams of key customers
  • Lead and/or participate in new product Voice of Customer activity
  • Fill patents
  • Prototypes design
  • Guarantee deliverables on time
  • Some travel required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate within a Global organization to technical and non-technical audiences and at various levels of the organization
  • Strong organization and presentation skills, be organized, methodical and rigorous
  • Team player, critical mind, synthesis and analysis abilities
  • High level customer service and ability to build relationships with customers
