Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment on a 12-bed Stepdown Unit in Kansas City, Kansas. This role is ideal for an RN experienced in caring for patients requiring an intermediate level of care between acute medical-surgical and intensive care. The Stepdown Unit provides continuous monitoring and specialized nursing care for patients with various medical conditions, often transitioning from critical care or requiring close observation for potential deterioration. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, intervention, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, medication administration, and treatment in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies. Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other physiological data, identifying and responding to changes in patient condition. Manage and maintain various medical devices, including IV lines, oxygen delivery systems, and monitoring equipment. Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions. Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions in the electronic health record. Ensure patient safety and maintain a therapeutic environment. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a Stepdown, Telemetry, or Medical Surgical Acute setting. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Preferred Qualifications Not specified.
