About the Role Our client is looking for a diligent and driven Legal Associate to join their remote legal team, serving the Welkom area and beyond. This role is essential for supporting the firm's broader legal operations by conducting thorough legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting senior lawyers with case preparation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong analytical skills, and thrives in an independent, remote work setting. You will contribute to delivering high-quality legal services to clients while developing your expertise in various legal domains. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations pertinent to ongoing matters. Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and legal correspondence. Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing evidence and exhibits. Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel under the supervision of senior attorneys. Manage case files and maintain meticulous records of all legal proceedings and documentation. Review and analyze discovery documents for relevance and significance. Requirements Admitted Attorney or Conveyancer with at least 3 years of post-admission experience. Strong proficiency in legal research and writing. Familiarity with court rules and procedures in South African jurisdictions. Excellent organizational and time management skills, crucial for remote work. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines consistently.
