Staff Tax Data Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY

U.S. Venture is seeking a Staff Tax Data Analyst to join our team. This role involves researching and analyzing large data sets.

Strong data querying skills as well as background tax and accounting knowledge will be essential in this role. The responsibilities of the Tax Staff Data Analyst include manipulating and reconciling data to comply with legal mandates and statutory regulations, filing returns promptly, reconciling the General Ledger, renewing business licenses, and performing other assigned duties.

This position can be located out of our offices in Appleton, WI or Houston, TX.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hands-on detailed data research and analysis of a large financial data sets; investigate, troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues.
• Improve existing processes by automating and reducing manual work.
• Extract data for ad-hoc queries where standard reports do not meet the requirements.
• Collaborate with our technology partners to innovate and maintain complex business and data solutions.
• Implement projects to optimize data operations.
• Work with our key technology providers to support technology upgrades, migrations, etc.
• Create and maintain dashboards used by tax compliance.
• Preparing monthly returns, monthly account reconciliations, making return payments and preparing license applications and renewals.
• Effectively and promptly managing tax notices
• Develops and / or maintains standard operating procedures for responsibilities.
• Understand, adheres, and performs tax internal control

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or commensurate experience
• Prior experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to : Comfortable with creating and editing spreadsheets, using formulas, creating charts and pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other advanced functions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate detailed information in a clear, easy to understand manner.
• Effective team player able to work with others in various areas (operations, treasury, finance, etc.)
• Display strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Has above average attention to detail and high degree of speed / accuracy in data entry
• Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong time management skills : ability to prioritize and complete tasks by deadline.
• Exercises sound judgment and adherence to department policy and procedures
• Demonstrates process improvement mindset.
