Sr. Cloud Engineer

This position is not currently funded and is contingent upon the award of a new contract to Amentum. At this time, Amentum is seeking candidates to fulfill contingent roles.

The expected award timeframe is Fall / Winter 2024.

The Sr. Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud-based systems. They will work with a variety of different technologies including virtualization software, storage platforms, networking equipment, etc.

to build robust cloud computing environments that meet the needs of their organization. They may be tasked with developing new features or services for existing systems and troubleshooting problems when these systems aren’t working as intended.

Responsibilities will include :

Resolving complex technical issues by analyzing issues and formulating solutions based on industry best practices.

Managing the entire software development life cycle, including planning, designing, testing, and deploying applications.

Developing and maintaining a cloud computing infrastructure that supports an organization’s business processes.

Designing complex computer network topologies to meet an organization’s needs for security and scalability.

Designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud computing systems, including software and hardware components.

Coordinating with other IT staff members to ensure that applications function properly and efficiently in a cloud computing environment.

Performing capacity planning to ensure that servers can handle an organization’s workload without experiencing downtime or performance degradation.

Troubleshooting problems with existing applications or computer networks to identify and resolve issues.

Recommending improvements to existing infrastructure and developing plans for future growth.

Minimum requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in IT or related technical field and 6 years of job-related experience, or equivalent

5-15 years of experience

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in designing, executing and supporting AWS environments

Working knowledge of AWS capabilities

Recent hands-on experience using AWS products

Preferred AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Cloud Practitioner (or similar AWS certification)

Experience working in IL6 or equivalent secure environments

Experience with security requirements in a federal IT environment, including FedRAMPcertified providers and FISMA requirements for acquiring an ATO

Ability to work on 20 DoD's Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) intranet. Required certifications : CompTIA Security+

Meets DoDD 8570 Certification requirements Verifiable experience in designing and maintaining DOD / Army enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) and Network support, legacy systems, supporting +150K end users

Demonstrateable experience with ERP, big data and cloud (IL-5 / IL-6) environments

Experience supporting a DOD ACAT 1 program

Must have a fully-adjudicated active secret US government clearance. Note : US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
