Were hiring a Contract Social Media Producer to engage & grow our audiences across social media platforms. Reporting to our Senior Social Media Producer, this role is responsible for ideating & creating social-first content, strategically packaging trending news stories for engagement, & bringing our lifestyle verticals (wellness, money, parenting) to life on Instagram & TikTok in both static & video formats.

What you'll be doing
- End-to-end production of static & video content for Instagram & TikTok, including ideation, writing, asset creation, & scheduling
- Creating assets from existing templates in a timely, thoughtful manner in response to news & pop culture moments
- Identifying unique opportunities to create social-first content based on on trending news particularly news that impacts womens lives & celebrates their accomplishment
- Producing, editing & delivering video assets for social using in-app editing tools
- Embedding with our editorial vertical teams (wellness, money, parenting) to identify opportunities for social engagement
- Analyzing performance metrics of social content & making recommendations for how to iterate based on the data
What would set you up for success
- 2-4 years of social media experience at a media company or relevant consumer brand, with emphasis on Instagram & TikTok
- Experience working in fast-paced production cycles
- Excellent news judgment
- Experience creating visual social assets from templates as well as producing video content for social
- Strong sense of humor & ability to package social content with voice & POV
- The creativity to ideate unique & novel formats that stand out in a crowded social media landscape
- You understand theSkimms brand & voice & can communicate its message with consistency
What would set you apart
- You are live & breathe news & pop culture
- You keep up with the industry & can name the latest memes & TikTok trends
- You are comfortable experimenting & are always thinking of creative ways to tell stories
- You are data-driven and / or have experience growing digital audiences
- Youre comfortable on camera with an engaging presence & ability to talk for TikTok
- You have created social-first franchises (Instagram, TikTok & emerging platforms)
- Familiarity with Figma, CrowdTangle, Instagram Insights, & Asana
This is a 6-month contract position with possibility for extension. This position has a weekly rate of $1,325 / week, with the assumption of working 40 hours a week.

What about the office?
This is a contract role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work.
Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. We have a hybrid environment & ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month.
All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open.
