Job description

Remote Leadership Role

In this remote leadership role, you will drive Cepheid's global trade compliance program to ensure import, export, sanctions, and customs obligations are met across a global manufacturing network. You'll partner with Legal, Finance, Tax, and Supply Chain to manage regulatory risk while enabling business growth. You'll lead governance, controls, and continuous improvement to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency. This is a strategic role that leverages technology to transform trade processes and deliver measurable impact across Cepheid's global operations. You will play a key part in aligning Cepheid with Danaher standards and driving sustainable, compliant growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously enhance Cepheid's global trade compliance program across import, export, customs, sanctions, and related regulations
  • Serve as the primary trade compliance subject matter expert to multiple functions (Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, Tax, R&D, Operations, Commercial)
  • Provide global oversight of customs compliance programs (valuation, tariff classification, country of origin, FTAs, broker management, post-entry activities, duty optimization)
  • Establish and monitor customs valuation methodologies for intercompany transactions in collaboration with Tax and Transfer Pricing
  • Develop country of origin strategies, tariff mitigation programs, and trade planning with cross-functional partners
  • Lead global trade compliance audits, monitoring, controls, risk assessments, and corrective actions
  • Drive trade compliance transformation and digitalization through automation, data governance, and analytics to improve recordkeeping and operational efficiency

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Law, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • 12+ years of progressive global trade compliance experience in a multinational manufacturing environment
  • 12+ years applying customs requirements across multiple jurisdictions (valuation, classification, origin, FTAs, export controls, sanctions)
  • Experience leading mature trade compliance programs (governance, policies, internal controls, audits, continuous improvement)
  • Experience developing/implementing compliant valuation methodologies, origin strategies, tariff mitigation, and trade planning with Finance, Tax, and Operations
  • Experience supporting global customs valuation programs, transfer pricing alignment, and trade compliance strategies in multinational settings
  • Experience in diagnostics/life sciences/healthcare technology or similarly regulated industries, including trade compliance technology and digital transformation initiatives
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
