Database Platform Lead (9066)

Morton is seeking a Database Platform Lead to oversee the ownership, operations, and ongoing development of an enterprise Data Lakehouse platform for a large professional services organization.

This is a highly visible, business-facing role requiring a strong combination of technical understanding, platform ownership, stakeholder management, and exceptional communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting enterprise data platforms, preferably within Microsoft Azure and Databricks environments, and the ability to coordinate technical teams, vendors, and business leadership to ensure successful platform operations.

While technical knowledge is important, this is not a hands-on data engineering or architecture position. Success will depend heavily on the individual's ability to manage priorities, communicate across teams, maintain documentation, and drive initiatives forward.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  Own the overall operations, performance, and lifecycle of the enterprise Data Lakehouse platform.
  
• 
  Serve as the primary point of contact for platform-related initiatives, enhancements, support requests, and vendor coordination.
  
• 
  Partner with business stakeholders and executive leadership to understand data, reporting, analytics, and integration requirements.
  
• 
  Translate business needs into actionable requirements for technical teams.
  
• 
  Coordinate closely with Data Architects, Developers, BI teams, and other IT resources to ensure successful platform implementations.
  
• 
  Oversee platform monitoring, issue resolution, data validation, and operational support.
  
• 
  Manage vendor relationships, escalations, upgrades, releases, and implementation activities.
  
• 
  Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data flows, integration diagrams, operational procedures, and support processes.
  
• 
  Coordinate cross-functional initiatives, establish priorities, and ensure projects progress toward completion.
  
• 
  Support platform governance, security, data quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  5+ years of experience supporting, administering, or owning enterprise data platforms, analytics environments, or business-critical technology applications.
  
• 
  Experience with enterprise data platforms, data integrations, or business intelligence environments.
  
• 
  Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Databricks, or comparable cloud-based data platforms.
  
• 
  Understanding of SQL, data pipelines, data validation, and integration concepts.
  
• 
  Demonstrated experience managing vendors, coordinating cross-functional teams, and driving technology initiatives.
  
• 
  Strong business analysis skills, including gathering requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions.
  
• 
  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  
• 
  Strong organizational skills, documentation abilities, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  
• 
  Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  Experience with Entegrata or familiarity with its capabilities as an enterprise data platform.
  
• 
  Experience with Azure Databricks, Snowflake, or similar modern data platforms.
  
• 
  Background in legal, professional services, or another confidentiality-sensitive industry.
  
• 
  Familiarity with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or Microsoft Entra ID.
  
• 
  Understanding of data governance, data quality, and enterprise data architecture.
  
• 
  Experience supporting analytics, reporting, automation, or AI initiatives.
  
• 
  Relevant Microsoft Azure or data platform certifications.
