Salary: $50,000–$62,000 annually

Wedgewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate, creative, and energetic Activity Director to lead recreational and therapeutic programs that enrich our residents’ lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, preferences, and care plans.

• Offer meaningful opportunities for group participation and individualized engagement.

• Coordinate entertainment, special events, community partnerships, and recreational outings.

• Arrange transportation for appropriate off-site activities and medical needs.

• Supervise, train, and support activities staff while promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.

• Manage the department budget, supplies, and staffing needs.

• Maintain accurate activity records, required reports, and care plan documentation.

• Review and update departmental policies, procedures, and job descriptions annually or as needed.

• Collaborate with the Administrator, Activities Consultant, and interdisciplinary team to improve programming and resident engagement.

• Partner with Nursing, Therapy, Dietary, and Social Services to incorporate meaningful activities into residents’ daily routines.

• Ensure activities services comply with applicable regulations, facility policies, and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Eligible for certification as an Activities Professional through a recognized accrediting body or meets applicable state-specific requirements.

• Previous experience in a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, assisted living community, or healthcare setting preferred.

• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to motivate and support a team with patience, enthusiasm, and creativity.

• Compassionate, professional approach to working with residents, families, visitors, and staff.

• Knowledge of activity services requirements in long-term care settings.

• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
