We are looking for skilled cooks with diverse culinary experiences. You will be working with a team who wants to exceed our guests' expectations by using their God-given talents to follow recipes and prepare delicious meals, keeping great sanitary standards through hot meals, cold food items and desserts.

Although the ideal candidate will have a growing relationship with Jesus, the Conference Center Cook is a *Non-Ministerial* position.

Non-ministerial staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to affirm MHAs Christian mission, vision and beliefs.

It is desired that staff who fill these roles are followers of Jesus Christ and embrace MHAs Christian mission, vision and beliefs.

However, if they are not a follower of Jesus Christ, they are expected in the course of their employment to abide by MHAs Christian Standards of Conduct and respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHAs Christian mission, vision and beliefs.

All staff join into our community life of prayer, worship and spiritual activity, including but not limited to staff meetings, attendance at programs, Bible Study, and staff gatherings.

Position Objective :

The Cook is responsible for assisting the Head Cook and Lead Cook in preparing high quality and nutritious meals in a manner consistent with MHAs mission, vision and values.

Key Job Accountabilities :

  • Assist Supervisors, teammates and Lead Cooks by preparing meals by specified mealtime deadlines.
  • Follow direction and recipe books to ensure consistent flavor and quality.
  • Prepare amounts indicated on production sheets to prevent waste and ensure MH food flavor consistency.
  • Follow all safe food handling practices.
  • Fill out shift cleaning and temperature logs.
  • Present the food to the guests in an eye-appealing manner.
  • Be updated on BEOS and food menus.
  • Replenish buffet lines and catering vans, and catering boxes as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licenses :

High School Grad or equivalent.

Work Experience :

Minimum one year of food service experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of basic math for recipe conversion.
  • Ability to use basic kitchen utensils.
  • Ability to create positive work relationships and work in teams.
  • Self-directed with ability to work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm in a high-energy kitchen setting.

Physical Demands :

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to use a variety of kitchen tools, equipment and utensils, including sharp objects.
  • Ability to see, hear and speak.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a California Food Handlers card.
  • Adherence to the basic priniciples as expressed in MHA's Mission Vision, Values and Commitment statements,
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
