Applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to maintain a sterile environmentDemonstrates competency in select technical and psychomotor skills, judgment and appropriate knowledge baseProvides age specific care to obstetrical patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the departmentAssists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient and cost effective departmentEffectively facilitates communication for the unit with all departmentsAnswers the phone, informs nursing staff of needed tests, exams or significant problems with patients on the nursing unitServes as a liaison between nursing unitsCollects data on assigned patients as directed by the RN and the unit based performance standardsPerforms accurate documentation duties on the nursing unit and in patient records as directed by unit based performance standards and guidelinesTranscribes physician orders accurately and in a timely mannerSchedules appointments, consults, diagnostic tests and examinations for patients on nursing unitInitiates, compiles and maintains patient chartsPerforms or assists patients with the activities of daily livingPrepares patients for transportation and / or transportMaintains accurate log of admission, discharge & transfer of patient on computer in a timely mannerEnsures patient charges are enteredParticipates in Quality Assessment / Performance Improvement and Infection Control Committee's as neededAssists with supply ordering, inventory control, and supply chain management as necessaryCollaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure needed trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready for each procedureEfficient with asepsis to maintain a sterile environmentAssists with stocking, and communicates with inventory specialist regarding supplies and instruments neededCollaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure needed trays are availableUtilizes preference cards to assure specialized supplies are availableAssist with cleaning and sterilization of instruments neededProper disposal of trash / sharpsPrep patient and participate in Time OutAssist with room turnoverAbout Premier Medical Staffing Services
