Non-College Work Study|STEM Facilitators

The UHD Scholars Academy is dedicated to undergraduate academic excellence and success in science, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We undertake many strategies to ensure each scholar's success. One is STEM Facilitator support from some of our more experienced scholars who exhibit the academic ability and leadership qualities of role models for other scholars to emulate, working collaboratively with Scholars Academy Faculty, Mentors, and Staff. These leaders serve as role models, advocates, and knowledgeable guides to our scholars.

Duties :

• Attends the Scholars Academy Intensive Leadership Training
• Serves as a Scholars Academy role model and maintains personal, respectful contact with all assigned to the facilitator. This contact needs to be at least once monthly by phone or in person, and at least twice monthly via email
• Schedules and coordinates an off-campus group volunteer activity (which needs to be approved by the Scholars Academy Coordinator) for your group and completes a report
• Works office hours for four to six hours a week, 60 hours a semester, facilitating other students
• Assists the Scholars Academy staff with all SA events as needed
• Completes a STEM Facilitator Report at the end of each semester
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
