Part Time Principle Office And Administrative Specialist
Applications are invited for one (1) position as a Principal Office and Administrative Specialist at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC), 2001 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. UROC's programs are committed to developing lasting partnerships with urban communities based on mutual respect and benefit. The staff, programs, and affiliates of UROC will pursue community-based and community-defined research that contributes to the vitality and well-being of the Northside and other urban neighborhoods of the Twin Cities. UROC is part of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. The person in this position will serve as the UROC receptionist and also provide part-time clerical support to the UROC executive director and leadership team. The receptionist may also provide limited assistance to others in the facility. This will be an hourly, part-time position for 20 hours per week. The hours will usually be between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a union-represented position (AFSCME Unit 6); the starting salary is $21.69 per hour. Position is represented by AFSCME-Clerical Bargaining Unit. Dues or Fair Share deductions will be made.
Job Responsibilities
Qualifications Required Qualifications High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of two (2) years of related office and administrative experience are required. (Training and / or education beyond high school may be substituted for one year of experience.) Experience drafting correspondence and preparing concise and accurate meeting minutes; Experience with keyboarding / data entry; Experience managing schedules and using electronic calendars; Experience dealing with the public in a professional manner.
Desired Qualifications / Selection Criteria Experience working with community organizations and / or in a higher education setting; Experience working in urban community Experience working successfully in a complex office environment with multiple projects and deadlines; Ability to generate spreadsheets / databases to enter and access information and use word processing programs to generate letters, memos, and other standard office documents; Experience working collaboratively with communities of color and / or immigrant communities; Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Fluency in a second language preferred but not required; Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to multi-task, to function effectively in a changing work environment, and to take direction from several senior team members; Experience providing staff support to committees and leaders.
