Architect 6 - Regional Team Leader Specifications

The Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) is seeking a Regional Team Leader and Senior Specification Writer to lead our Specifications Group. We are looking for candidates with experience as a Senior Manager and Senior Specification Writer. This position can be based out of any CDM Smith U.S. location.
Responsibilities
- As a Regional Team Leader, play a key role in advancing CDM Smith's mission by : supporting employees' career journeys, communicating, integrating, connecting, and engaging with team members, and actively participating in team members' career paths (training, professional registration / certification, project assignments).
- Select suitable mentors for employees as part of the Career Compass Program; celebrate team milestones; conduct annual performance appraisals with technical mentors, project managers, and others.
- Leverage and apply intellectual property, particularly related to Community of Practice participation; recruit, interview, and hire new employees (as approved) to support workload and firm growth.
- Deliver a high-quality client experience; foster ownership of work product quality; coordinate workload and utilization goals within the Technical Services group; coordinate with TDM for staff assignments; deliver sales support as coordinated with the TDM.
- Approve time sheets and expense reports in a timely manner; ensure team members complete required training (Compliance, Health & Safety, Ethics, etc.) on time; ensure QA / QC and Health & Safety compliance in project delivery.
- Specification Program Management Tasks
- Manage the Specifications Writing Team focusing on Quality Assurance for construction specifications across multiple business units (TSU, CCI, FSU); build a customer-centered team focus within QA requirements.
- Monitor, update, and maintain the master specifications library with other writers and discipline leaders; recommend updates to specifications-related policies and procedures.
- Monitor Viva Engage and other firm-wide portals for spec issues; create, update, and maintain specification section development tracking; develop systems for coordination with subconsultants.
- Strategic Tasks
- Provide strategic planning on issues related to the preparation of the firm's construction specifications, including evaluating digital platforms for delivering specs and integration with software such as Revit and ProjectWise.
- Coordinate and train NAU administrative staff to prepare specs; participate in CSI events and professional development; maintain best practices for spec preparation; prepare processes for proposal budgets and scopes; maintain relationships with OGC on legal aspects of specs, including various contract types.
- Work with Project Managers to schedule spec tasks and understand funding regulation impacts on project manuals (AIS, BABAA, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture.11 years of related experience; RA certification required.Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Domestic and / or international travel may be required. Travel frequency varies by duties and workload.Certification / License Requirements
Registered ArchitectPreferred Qualifications
Proficient in CSI format requirements for technical specifications and EJCDC front end documents; experience working with multi-discipline teams on specifications.Experience writing / editing engineering technical specifications for public, government, and private sector projects.Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), or related state registration / license; Certified Construction Specifier (CCS).15 years of related experience including team management; well-rounded experience with design, project management, and construction administration.Experience writing / editing vertical and horizontal construction specifications; familiarity with DOT, SpecsIntact, and international specs.Current membership in CSI or DBIA or other construction / design industry certification requiring education, experience, testing, and CE credits.Travel
