Job Summary :
Work together with the dentist to meet the oral health needs of the patient. Provide a high level of patient care and satisfaction while operating in a team-based environment. Handles a variety of clinical duties for dental office operations. These duties range in complexity and skill, and all aspects of the job require an exceptional level of customer service skills and a strong commitment to working well with patients, doctors, dental assistants, and other dental office team members.
Essential Functions :
- GBT Guided Biofilm Therapy equipment operation may be required.
- Provide oral hygiene dental treatment and oral hygiene care and education in accordance with guidelines approved, issued, and regulated by the state in which they work.
- Apply fluoride and protective sealants. Removal of calculus, stain and plaque from above and below the gum line.
- Provide nutritional counseling and self-care programs to prevent disease.
- Record and review patient medical histories.
- Uphold office policy including HIPAA & OSHA.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Order and keep track of inventory as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment :
This job operates in a medical / clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, x-rays, and phones.This job operates in a well-lighted, sterile environment. Employees must wear gloves, masks, protective eye wear, and clothing to protect themselves and their patients from infectious disease.Physical Demands :
The employee frequently is required to talk and hear; stand and / or sit for long periods of time; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and / or move objects up to 25 pounds.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood and blood-borne pathogens and / or physical risks, which will require OSHA training.Required Skills & Experience :
One year of hands on experience as a hygienist.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Some locations require GBT Guided Biofilm Therapy operational experience.Preferred Skills & Experience :
GBT Guided Biofilm Therapy equipment operation experience.Required Education :
High school diploma or GED.Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene school.Required Certifications & Licensure :
Hold a current state issued Dental Hygiene license.CPR certification
