Position Summary

The Job Coach will provide one-on-one and small group support to participants in the youth summer employment program. They will participate in program engagement (progression and completion) using various tools and strategies as well as manage student case load to support their work during the program.

Program Description :

Work Readiness Training University (WRT-U) also referred to as Ready to Earn

is an experiential learning opportunity where The Columbus Urban Leagues (CUL) provides TANF eligible Franklin County youth, ages 14-19, with career readiness training, professional development, mentorship, community engagement, and placed-based educational opportunities year-round.

Youth earn stipends and incentives for completing activities and projects and demonstrate knowledge and skill gains in Ohio Means Jobs Work Readiness Domains.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with screening for applicant eligibility and notification.
• Implementation of comprehensive in-person and / or virtual Work Readiness Training for participants; including workshop facilitation, and career coaching.
• Coordinate and monitor volunteerism and participants.
• Provide on-going professional development, internship coaching, and personal goal setting for applicants.
• Assist in internship coaching and goal setting toward individualized participant goals.
• Maintain participant records and required documentation for compliance; including ensuring that all required documents are completed by participants and / or guardians and included in the files.
• Maintain appropriate information for required reporting to funders, donors and CUL leadership.
• Review guidelines with each participant to emphasize expectations regarding appropriate workplace behaviors (ie. attendance, dress attire, communication, and duties).
• Participate in lesson plan development, program planning, curriculum design, activities, and evaluation.
• Obtain and verify program-related forms and documents.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for participants and staff.
• Manage youth behavior using agency-approved intervention and deescalating techniques.
• Communicate with parents / legal guardians regarding participant's progress; to include written, oral, and online communications.
• Assist in development and / or participate in presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Serve as a liaison to build, manage, and maintain a customer service relationship with contractors, guest facilitators, etc.

by providing support through student phone calls, in-person / virtual visits and frequent communication tailored to the needs of both contractors and student learners.

• Complete electronic and / or hard copy case notes, reports, and other program related communications.
• Provide youth with technical assistance / support for online systems.
• Serve as a chaperone on day or overnight tours or program activities.
• Review and approve electronic or hard copy participant timesheets, tracker sheets, and other payroll related documents.

Job Requirements Education and Experience :

• At least two years of practical experience in formal classroom setting.
• Experience working with youth-serving programs and / or organizations is preferred.
• Enjoy working with youth ages 14-19.
• Excellent verbal communication skills required.
• Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and virtual platforms (i.e., Zoom) are required.
• Willing to travel, may include overnight stays to serve as a chaperone.
• A valid driver license, current auto insurance and reliable transportation is required.
• Professional business attire and appearance required.

Education and Experience

• Associate degree AND two (2) years of related experience; or
• At least 1 year of college coursework AND at least 6 months' work experience
