Assistant Controller
Position Information
The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor-Business & Financial Services and Controller and serves as the deputy of the Business & Financial Services division.
The position is responsible for the leadership, strategic planning, and management of General & Plant Accounting and extramural funds.
Responsibilities include the development and management of accounting-related processes and controls involving the general ledger : contracts and grants, endowments, gift funds, sales & services, auxiliary and plant funds, cash management and banking, access and controls, and year-end closing and audit.
The full salary range for the Assistant Controller is $107,200.00 - $207,200.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $107,200.
00 - $157,200.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and / or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.

Education
Education Requirements
Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Required MBA / Master's Degree in related field. Preferred
Certifications
Certification Requirement Professional certification. Preferred
Experience
Experience Requirement 8 - 13 years of related experience. Required Previous supervisory / managerial experience. Preferred Substantial recent experience with managing related financial system processes (i.
e., general ledger, post-award administration). Required
Special Conditions

Minimum Requirements
Thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, business and systems operations and regulatory compliance requirements.
Strong analytical skills.
Skill developing meaningful performance measures and using results to implement process improvements.
Sophisticated service orientation, strong management skills, leadership skills, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Expert level knowledge of and experience with interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Governmental Accounting Standards, university fund accounting principles and federal sponsored projects policy.
Excellent skills using common desktop / web applications.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.
Knowledge of industry best practices.
Skill in designing, implementing, and evaluating internal controls in accounting processes.
Skill recruiting, managing, developing, retaining and promoting a diverse professional staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of UC policies and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of the organization's operational, personnel, and financial transactions and financial systems.
Oracle Cloud Financials experience.
CPA or equivalent professional certification.
Work experience in a higher education environment.
