ELN/LIMS Data Architect/Engineer

What this position is all about : In this role, you will serve as an IT liaison for the Research function, specifically the Biology and Chemistry functions.

You will collaborate with business teams to comprehend the data and analytics challenges and requirements of Cellarity. Your responsibilities will encompass defining, designing, and implementing enterprise solutions related to laboratory informatics, data management, reporting, data modeling, and data integration.

Additionally, you will contribute to the development and execution of the Laboratory Information Systems portfolio roadmap.

Working alongside the Laboratory Information Systems lead, you will establish a demand governance and support model aimed at prioritizing and delivering end-to-end solutions across various business functions.

What you would be responsible for :

  • Serve as a liaison for the research and pharmaceutical sciences functions.
  • Be involved in Laboratory Information Systems initiatives and the portfolio roadmap.
  • Contribute to the development of the functional strategy as a subject matter expert.
  • Work closely with business subject matter experts to develop proposals for LIMS workflows.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for laboratory informatics projects within the organization.
  • Collaborate directly with business clients, IT Business Partners, and other IT functions in delivering digital capabilities.
  • Anticipate internal and external business challenges and recommend creative solutions.
  • Develop user requirements and vendor / software selection criteria for enterprise software and technology solutions (Write SOPs, User Guides, Training Materials, Test Plans, Validation Rules documents).
  • Manage internal documentation related to the implementation, support, and maintenance of laboratory informatics systems.
  • Contribute significantly to the development of a plan for development activities and translate those into actionable projects.

These projects include releases, necessary modifications, and discretionary enhancements to support the application life cycle.

  • Provide support for the LIMS / ELN environment.
  • Participate in the execution of Test and Validation Scripts.

What experiences will you need :

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, with significant work experience in the science domain; or bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry or biology, with significant work experience in the IT domain.
  • 5+ years of experience working with a variety of research informatics platforms, particularly LIMS and ELN, in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
  • Experience in developing ELN templates, workflows, protocols, custom fields, and associated reporting methods, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in business partner / relationship management.
  • Experience in authoring Study templates for structured biological assay data intake, writing import scripts to parse input files, and validating input data.
  • Experience working with relational databases, and proficient in writing SQL queries.
  • Ability to comprehend business needs and a commitment to delivering the best user experience and adoption.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across multiple functions.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, as well as technical and analytical skills.

  • Experience with the Dotmatics, and Sapio platform.
  • Previous experience in rapidly growing life sciences organizations.
  • Software QA / QC experience (test plans, test scripts, bug tracking).
  • Experience developing LIMS workflows, integrations, plug-ins, and subroutines.
  • Comfortable programming, testing, and debugging code written in Python.
