Sr Manager Refrigeration
POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Manager of Refrigeration directs the maintenance, service and installation of commercial refrigeration equipment and is responsible for safety, labor productivity, efficiency, inventory, and budget management.
This leadership role provides both managerial and technical support for the team that services retail store locations, distribution center and offices and arranges contract services.
This job classification requires advanced knowledge of regulatory and other building requirements, and the ability to provide direction and manage multiple projects within established timeliness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. *Oversees and ensures all commercial refrigeration systems are maintained to meet operational standards. Creates service work orders and directs staff to ensure timely completion of work orders.
a. Directs staff in diagnosing commercial HVAC equipment as well as the dismantling, assembling and installation of equipment.
b. Reviews production schedules and estimates labor requirements for completion of job assignments.
c. Maintains appropriate inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
2. *Plans and develops equipment and refrigeration budgets for review by capital expenditure committee.
3. *Enforces safety regulations and implements regular safety training for all team members.
a. Inspects all stores for maintenance and safety problems and oversees the corrections of problems and issues.
b. Reviews store safety inspections that require escalation, creates service work orders, follows up with store management and district managers.
4. *Prepares bids and contract specifications. Solicits bids from outside vendors for various refrigeration related projects and ongoing services.
Negotiates and arranges contract services.
5. *Conducts analyses of department costs and develops ROI projections, estimates and proposals. Participates in annual budget planning.
6. *Maintains direct communication with management to discuss and review facilities department projects.
a. Attends facilities meetings.
b. Evaluates and discusses maintenance and new equipment needs.
c. Stays informed of future remodeling store projects and equipment.
d. Collaborates with leadership to plan, develop and implement new methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize costs and effect greater utilization of labor and resources.
7. *Reviews and approves all material and outside vendor expenses.
8. *Provides leadership that represents Bashas’ Leadership Traits and our values to inspire and empower the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : · Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven or more (7+) years’ experience in commercial refrigeration, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in all areas of building trades.
REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE : · Knowledge of supermarket refrigeration. · Knowledge of electronic controls. · Budget management.
SKILLS / ABILITIES : · Excellent judgement and ability to accurate assess situations and diagnose and solve problems. · Ability to operate a personal computer and related software including spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written and group presentation skills. · Demonstrated ability in leadership, effectively working in a time sensitive and fast paced environment, planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.

- Valid Driver’s License
- E.P.A. Universal Refrigerant Certificate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time :

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in various environments, normal office, maintenance shop, warehouse, and construction areas. Drives to various locations.
Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, high voltage, heights, power equipment and tools and hazardous materials. Work irregular hours.
