Personal Care Assistant (PCA) - Special Education
Location : Philadelphia, PA 19154
Compensation : $20 per hour
Schedule : Monday-Friday | Full-Time, School Hours

Do you have a passion for helping students succeed? As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) , you'll work one-on-one or with a small group of students who need additional support to participate fully and successfully in the classroom. You'll be part of a dedicated Special Education team, providing direct assistance under the guidance of the classroom teacher and Special Education supervisor.
Your role will directly impact a student's ability to learn, grow, and thrive-making every day meaningful.
What You'll Do
- Prepare, collect, and set up learning materials as directed by the teacher
- Provide instructional, behavioral, and / or physical support to students in both individual and small group settings
- Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud, story time, or classroom projects
- Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work assigned by the teacher
- Maintain daily activity logs for assigned student(s)
- Communicate important updates or concerns to the teacher
- Support substitute teachers with essential student information
- Operate or assist with mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers, braces, canes)
- Follow and implement student-specific behavior, medical, emergency, or crisis plans
- Assist with self-care needs as assigned
- Support therapy programs designed by speech, occupational, or physical therapists
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
What We're Looking For
Education : High School Diploma (required) - Additional qualifications as required by state / national regulationsAbility to read, understand, and follow instructionsBasic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)Good judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independentlyStrong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and familiesClear and concise verbal and written communication skillsWillingness to adapt to each student's communication style and needsPhysical Requirements
