Civil Engineering Manager – Energy & Renewables (Remote)
Location : Remote (with occasional travel to client offices, project sites, and team meetings)

At Ascent Geomatics Solutions, the Civil Engineering Manager leads and advances our civil engineering practice supporting projects in the Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy sectors. Our scopes include site civil design for oil and gas well pads and production facilities, midstream gathering systems, renewable energy developments (solar, wind, BESS), and related energy infrastructure.
This role combines technical excellence with leadership within a small, adaptable, and collaborative company environment. The Civil Engineering Manager oversees a close-knit team of engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, managing workload, and supporting career development while remaining hands-on with design and review work. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in site civil design, direct oil and gas industry experience, and a passion for mentorship, technical quality, and efficient project execution.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage Ascent’s Civil Engineering Department, setting goals, processes, and performance standards aligned with company strategy.
- Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of site civil engineering projects, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency.
- Mentor and develop engineers and designers through coaching, feedback, and technical oversight.
- Coordinate with Survey, GIS, and Permitting departments to align data, standards, and deliverables for integrated project execution.
- Review design work for quality and compliance, including grading, drainage, roadway, and utility design.
- Support project estimating, proposals, and business development efforts in partnership with Project Managers and senior leadership.
- Participate in client meetings and represent Ascent as a technical leader in energy and infrastructure design.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (multi-state licensure preferred).10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in site design, grading, drainage, and utilities for energy or infrastructure projects.3–5 years of leadership experience managing engineers, designers, or technical staff.Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and standards, with demonstrated ability to apply them across energy, oil and gas, and renewable project environments.Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and departmental performance goals.Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, Hydraflow, etc.).Knowledge of national civil and stormwater design standards (FHWA, AASHTO, FEMA, EPA) and adaptability to multi-state regulatory environments.Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset.What We Offer
