Safety & Security Manager

Description

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Services as a functional manager, the Safety & Security Manager manages and maintains a comprehensive physical safety and security program for Douglas County Libraries (DCL), including risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and response. This role serves as a liaison with law enforcement and collaborates with other department managers to ensure secure facilities, staff training, and effective incident response and reporting.

The Safety & Security Manager works closely with the Director of Infrastructure Services, the Senior Leadership Team, and cross-departmental teams to advance organizational goals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Manages and maintains DCL's physical safety and security program, aligning this work with DCL brand, values, and priorities.
• Consults and collaborates with the Safety & Security Committee to develop and implement internal safety and security protocols and procedures that promote safe and healthy working conditions based on industry best practices.
• Leads facility safety and security audits to detect potential or existing hazards, recommends corrective actions, and collaborates with the appropriate managers to mitigate.
• Manages and plans employee safety communications that promote safety awareness and minimize or eliminate occupational injuries.
• Coordinates with the Safety & Security Committee to consistently implement procedures to handle customer safety and security incidents.
• Acts as a liaison with local law enforcement and county government entities.
• Applies data insights and industry best practices to optimize departmental operations.
