Join the Hoover Lab at Brigham and Womens Hospital and Harvard Medical School

We are pioneering research on tissue injury and repair in autoimmunity, with a focus on lupus-related kidneys and rheumatoid arthritis ( thehooverlab.com ). Kidney injury significantly impacts morbidity and mortality in patients living with lupus, while rheumatoid arthritis affects up to 1% of the population. Using cutting-edge technologies, we study patient samples and disease models to uncover new insights and advance potential treatments with a particular focus on macrophages.

Job Description :

We are seeking a motivated researcher to lead experiments investigating innate immune mechanisms driving lupus-associated kidney damage and repair. You will work on innovative in vivo and in vitro studies, validating new cellular and molecular targets within a collaborative team. This will involve genomic library prep and mouse handling.

Qualifications :

  • PhD, MD, or MD / PhD with an emphasis on immunology or kidney biology
  • Proficiency in mouse handling, in vivo experiments, tissue harvest and processing, immune cell isolation from blood.
  • Experienced with flow cytometry and immune profiling
  • Proficient in genomic library preparation (bulk and single cell)

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead experiments using mouse models and human samples to understand the role of macrophages in autoimmune tissue repair and injury
  • Harvest, process, and analyze tissue and blood from mouse models and human samples
  • Apply genomics, flow cytometry, spatial profiling, and other advanced techniques
  • Prepare genomic sequencing libraries and ensure sample quality
  • Analyze and interpret data from mouse and human studies
  • Collaborate, troubleshoot, and contribute to scientific publications and presentations
  • Be willing to learn new techniques as needed for project development
