Senior Director Mainframe Technical Support

Senior Director, IT Operations, managing the TSYS Mainframe Technical Support Team supporting the TSYS Enterprise Mainframe hardware infrastructure. This Mainframe Tech Support Team manages all physical hardware, capacity planning and storage administration teams supporting mainframe systems worldwide, responsible for processing over 800 million accounts and a transaction rate exceeding 1 billion transactions daily. Oversees all aspects of the organization's worldwide highly complex multi-data-center mainframe infrastructure. Directs staff in the planning, acquisition, implementation, integration and support of mainframe systems. Validates that systems are managed to regulatory, compliance and audit standards. Coordinates with internal business partners and clients around the globe to understand their needs and provide world-class infrastructure. Leads technical engagements with current and prospective clients to integrate services. Develops team members to engage clients with best technical solutions. Directs budget exceeding $100 million and completes major projects on time and within budget. Oversees business continuity and disaster recovery solutions to support critical business services.
Responsibilities
- Leads a team of 25+ people developing clear mission, culture & organizational structure to effectively guide and support Sr Director, Director and Senior Manager level leaders and the team as a whole.
- Strives to deliver 99.999% service availability for core processing platform infrastructure developing proactive programs and completing related initiatives to achieve desired outcome.
- Develops strategies and sets objectives that collaboratively supports Business Application-owner, Security, Compliance and Infrastructure engineering groups to achieve their goals in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Delivers ongoing compliance with external and internal standards for infrastructure platform management through clear policy communication and consistent, high-quality execution while modernizing delivery methodologies, structures and processes.
- Leads strategic and tactical planning, evaluation and coordination of functional priorities and guides appropriate management of team resources to ensure any issuer infrastructure dependencies for approved projects are balanced with critical, day-to-day operational demands.
- Leads the identification and provision of operational infrastructure requirements for new engineering strategies and initiatives.
- Analyzes the costs, value and risks of in-scope IT domain to advise senior management and recommend actions.
- Tracks key vendor operational performance ensuring appropriate corrective steps taken where necessary.
- Ensures valuable Key Performance and Risk Indicator data for issuer infrastructure technology organization are devised and acted upon delivering overviews and reporting to executive management.
- Develops a strategy and management approach that is customer-focused, drives performance, encourages creativity, develops technical proficiencies, nurtures a positive workforce experience and rewards key performers.
- Provides day-to-day leadership, direction and encouragement to staff members on goals, objectives and career development to recruit, motivate and retain a high performing team.
- Monitors changes or advancements in technology and practices to discover ways to support the issuer business to gain competitive advantage.
- Establishes and manages the financial budget allocation for the issuer infrastructure technology organization ensuring responsible budget control for effective, on-budget use of capital.
- Leads key M&A activities as necessary to ensure quick and efficient integration of technology and staff to meet strategic and synergistic targets.
