Our client, a leading manufacturing company based in Western New York, is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team and contribute to their ongoing success.
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will assist in various accounting functions, with a particular emphasis on costing.

Responsibilities :
- Assist the Controller in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company.
- Manage costing activities, including analyzing manufacturing costs and variances to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain financial cost reports necessary for standard and gross margin analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate costing and cost control measures.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and analysis to inform decision-making.
- Help establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Prepare audit work papers and assist with external audits as needed.
- Respond to tax notices and manage compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide support and training to accounting staff as necessary.
- Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

- Minimum Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on costing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- ERP System experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
