Job description

PostgreSQL & Cassandra Database Administrator (DBA)Capital Markets / Banking - SMBC - Hybrid / Jersey City, NJ | New York, NY | Charlotte, NC

Qualifications :

  • 9 years of experience as a Postgres DBA in a production environment
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL internals , configuration, and administration
  • Experience with logical and physical replication , high availability , and failover strategies
  • Skilled in database performance tuning and query optimization
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
  • MongoDB experience is a plus
  • Experience in a financial services or regulated environment preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

    • Preferred Skills :

  • Knowledge of pgAdmin , Patroni , pgBouncer , pgBackRest , or similar Postgres tooling
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL, or Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices , CI / CD tools, and version control systems
  • Understanding of data security and auditing best practices
