Human Resources Business Partner
A global food manufacturer with a growing North American presence is hiring a Human Resources Business Partner for its high-volume facility in Libertyville. This company is known for blending innovation with operational excellence and places strong emphasis on safety, quality, and culture.
In this on-site role, you'll be a key HR partner supporting a unionized workforce in a food manufacturing setting. You'll work closely with managers, union reps, and the HR Director to drive employee engagement, compliance, performance management, and retention.
What's the job?
- Act as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations and grievances
- Partner with union representatives to ensure contract compliance and support labor relations
- Support recruitment and onboarding for both hourly and salaried roles
- Oversee compliance with policies, labor laws, food safety protocols, and OSHA regulations
- Assist with timekeeping, leave administration (FMLA), and benefit-related inquiries
- Provide performance management support to supervisors, including coaching and documentation
- Track and coordinate compliance and safety training
- Help drive employee engagement and communication efforts
- Collaborate with operations to manage scheduling, attendance, and turnover
What's needed?
3+ years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience in manufacturing (food industry preferred)Direct experience in a unionized environment, including handling grievances and contract adherenceStrong understanding of Illinois labor laws and HR complianceBachelor's degree in HR or related field preferredProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levelsBilingual in Spanish requiredWhat's in it for me?
