Piper Health & Sciences is seeking a Lab Tech IV to join a specialized research group supporting the US Army Medical Research Insititute in Frederick, MD .
This group conducts aerosol studies to develop effective countermeasures against biological warfare.
Responsibilities for the Lab Tech IV include :
- Generate, sample, and characterize aerosols to support medical countermeasure studies against biological threats.
- Support aerosol exposure studies by adhering to all animal / in vivo research protocols.
- Execute scientific studies, collect and analyze data, and maintain the laboratory equipment and space.
- Perform viral and bacterial stock characterization, plating assays, ELISA, RT-PCR, and other relevant in vitro assays as required by each study.
- Perform clinical pathology evaluation such as hematology, clinical chemistry analysis, coagulation and similar, in support of approved animal protocols and NHP colony management operations.
- Independently assemble, calibrate, and test telemetry systems, troubleshoot electronic and software communication issues, and independently perform telemetry support for animal studies in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 lab environments.
- Assist with SOP writing, revision, and review while ensuring compliance with GLP guidelines.
- Assist with regulatory audits and respond to Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
Qualifications for the Lab Tech IV include :
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (Molecular Biology, Animal Biology, Microbiology, etc.) is required.
- 4+ years of regulated laboratory experience is required.
- Prior experience with telemetry and / or aerosol studies is strongly preferred. Prior BSL-3 / 4 laboratory experience can be used in lieu of aerosol or telemetry experience.
Compensation for the Lab Tech IV includes :
