Our Calibration Level 3 Technicians perform calibration and repair high level and unique test and measurement instrumentation. This job may require a certain amount of specialization and will require technician to provide training in certain areas. A person in this position must be self-motivated and assist in general laboratory duties as assigned. The position may be a parallel career path to lead tech position. Collateral duties may be assigned as a permanent part of the position description depending on individual's abilities.
Position Function Responsibilities :
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Ensure customer satisfaction and timely turn-around on all equipment and service
- Perform calibration of high-level test and measurement equipment with little supervision in lab and at customer sites
- Coordinate and lead teams for field calibration and maintenance
- Seek and provide sales leads whenever possible
- Create and verify calibration data sheets for technical content and accuracy based upon instrument specifications and approved calibration procedures
- Develop calibration procedures to meet the needs of the customer while supporting traceability of the measurements
- Complete all documentation associated with position accurately and efficiently while maintaining a 2.5 % or less of the combined Quality Documentation Inspection (QDI) and Process Verification Inspection (PVI) discrepancy rates
- Maintain technical proficiency and effectiveness through various means such as self-study, local college and internal training programs as well as through proficiency testing
- Perform other laboratory support functions as required in an efficient and orderly manner
- Assist the Laboratory Manager in training technicians and educating customers when needed
- Interface directly with customers to determine needs relating to traceability, adequacy of standards and test procedures utilized by Dynamic Technology Inc, as well as for items requiring repair or limited calibration
- Assist Quality Assurance in developing uncertainty budgets
- Ensure that preventative maintenance of the laboratory's equipment is performed in a timely and acceptable manner
- Managing workload distribution for the technicians within his / her sphere of influence when the Laboratory Manager is not available.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
Requirements
Two years of college with AA degree in metrology preferredMinimum of four years commercial or military experience in the field of electronics, with a background in the field of MetrologyAdditional experience must be evident in the areas of primary and secondary calibration standardsKnowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Strong knowledge of metrology practices and theories, analog and digital circuit analysisExperienced in some or all of test and measurement equipment used in conjunction with the repair and calibration of electronic, mechanical, chemical, thermal and / or dimensional devicesPossess strong troubleshooting and repair capabilities, and the ability to work on unique equipment with little or no product informationProficient in Windows-based and laboratory automation softwareAbility to apply basic statistical techniques necessary for measurement uncertainty analysisWorking knowledge of ISO / IEC 17025 and ANSI / NCSL Z-540-1 requirementsSkilled in communication with customers and peers, including the ability to mentor and trainScissor lift operation experience preferredPhysical Demands :
