Working Conditions : The Behavioral Therapist and Assessment Specialist will maintain an office with computer and other equipment necessary to complete tasks. Frequent travel between sites may be required as well as local travel between program sites and public schools. Some evening works is expected. Requires the ability to drive to various locations within the service radius. No exceptional physical demand is needed.

Position Summary : The Behavioral Therapist and Assessment Specialist completes initial assessment and treatment plans, and individual therapeutic counseling for Therapeutic Mentoring clients (ages 5 to 19). The person in this position also provides case management and community connections to ensure continuity of care and access to long term solutions. The BTAS will work as part of the Therapeutic Mentoring management team including : Regional Director, Mentor Coordinator, Education Specialist for Therapeutic Mentoring, and Lead Therapeutic Mentor.

Essential Job Functions

• Completes a thorough Behavioral Health Diagnostic Assessment for all clients referred to the Therapeutic Mentoring program
• Develops a Treatment Plan with measurable goals, specific to the behavioral health needs of the therapeutic mentoring client, and updates the plan every ninety days
• Provides clinical group supervision of overall program services, matches, progress, and outcomes
• Case management activities including, but not limited to, crisis planning, school advocacy, referral, linkage, and collateral contacts
• Reviews Discharge Summaries and Aftercare Plans for clinical approval
• Provide Individual Therapeutic Counseling with clients as needed
• Maintains required documentation and client files according to standards and as required by policy and procedure, entering information in a timely and accurate manner

Requirements

Educational and Experience : Must have a Master’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or related field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the social work field.

License and Certifications : Must poses a LPC or LCSW clinical license, and that license be in good standing.

Knowledge and Skills : Must be a self-starter and possess flexibility to plan and carry out a wide variety of job responsibilities. Excellent verbal and written skills communication skills are essential as well as the ability to utilize technology to aide communication.

Other Requirements

Must hold a valid driver’s license, have and maintain a risk-free driving record. Must be willing to undergo initial and periodic child abuse / neglect, criminal history, sexual offender, and childcare / elder care disqualification list screenings. As requested, must submit fingerprints for review by the state of your employment and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Must undergo a pre-employment drug screen and a pre-employment physical with the results showing no evidence of communicable disease.
