The Inpatient Advanced Practice Nurse Hospitalist, Nights will : Saint Peter's is seeking an Inpatient Advanced Practice Nurse to join the House Coverage Hospitalist team on a full-time basis on the Night Shift. The Advanced Practice Nurse will be an integral part of the Hospital Medicine health care team, working with physicians, nurses and nursing or medical assistants to provide comprehensive high-quality inpatient care, as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors. The Inpatient Advanced Practice Nurse will :
- Serve as the advanced practice provider for all inpatient units during overnight hours, coordinating on-call telephone coverage with physician
- Respond to nurse calls regarding patient status changes, concerns, and urgent care needs
- Provide cross coverage on patient admissions side including history, physical examination, and admission orders
- Assess and manage acute medical emergencies and clinical deteriorations
- Provide cross-coverage for admitted patients across all hospital services including observation and telemetry, rounding on multiple floors to monitor patient progress and ensure continuity of care
- Enter orders for medications, diagnostic tests, consultations, and treatments
- Collaborate with nursing staff, pharmacy, and ancillary services to coordinate patient care
- Complete timely documentation of all patient encounters and interventions in the EMR within 24 hours
- Provide direct patient care within the limits prescribed by training and in consultation with a supervising physician
- Assist with procedures including urinary catheterization, venipuncture, skin biopsies, and other specialized procedures as requested
- Review routine laboratory reports for abnormalities and notify responsible clinician according to degree of urgency
- Develop and implement patient education activities appropriate to patients' age and developmental stage across the lifespan
- Demonstrate competency in providing age-appropriate care to neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Maintain current CPR certification and attend all mandatory in-service updates and continuing education requirements
- Assist with setting and revising practice policies to improve clinic efficiency and patient care Requirements : Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Currently Advance Practice Nursing licensure in the State of New Jersey. Currently CDS and DEA required. Master's degree in nursing required. Two (2) years experience in specialty strongly preferred. Certified as a nurse practitioner in the State of New Jersey within area of specialty. BLS and ACLS certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association. Schedule : 3D 12HR Shifts, 72 hours bi-weekly We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials. The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
