Office Status : Plant site travel in Chicago area
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide on-site IT support for plant operations, addressing issues quickly and professionally.
- Strong communication / people skills are essential, dealing with high stress situations and upper management
- Assist in deploying networking and telecom equipment in coordination with the central Network Team.
- Offer hands-on support with server racks, switches, and basic networking infrastructure (no advanced programming / building required).
- Collaborate on team initiatives and assist with IT-related projects as needed.
Preferred Background :
3-4 years of general IT workPrior experience supporting IT needs in a plant, industrial, or manufacturing environment.If they don't have plant experience - Military experience is a strong plus—familiarity with structured protocols and high-pressure environments, as well as similar applications to the plant sites,Working knowledge of plant-specific applications such as PI, Red Tag, and SEMS is highly desirable.General understanding of networking, telecom, and server environments.Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
Provide second & third level desktop support for PC / LAN and laptop / workstation end-users including senior-level management and plant operators.Main IT support on the ground for all communications, coordination, onsite projects, and client relations.Adhere to Plant and OSHA safety guidelines and policies.Familiarity with plant outage procedures, alerts and emergencies, and overall plant environment.Update and monitor ticketing systems.Provide routine problem reporting and recommendations to management.Utilize technical and procedure documentation for Help Desk, PC desktop / laptop configuration standards and install procedures.Configuration and deployment of new desktop and laptop systems.Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and printing issues as they occurAssist IT related projects, including moves and special IT teams projects on site.Coordinate and handle meetings and video conferencing needs.Work with site admins to facilitate their needs and work with them for site specific needs.Provide new hardware / software for users as approved, assist in asset tag control and inventory management.Install, configure, move, and retire PC equipment.Coordinate and collaborate effectively with technical teams to resolve office projects, upgrades, and vendor relations.Establish and maintain good working relationship with clients.Frequent travel required - traveling to plant sites on a regular schedule. Candidate will be covering predominately Texas sites but may include other plant sites as well from time to time.Overtime and occasional weekend shifts required as needed.Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of computer hardware devices (Dell, Lenovo, Network Printers)Experience in Microsoft Windows 10 and 11Experience in Office Suites, primarily O365. Cisco AnyConnect VPN, MS Outlook with MS Exchange for end users, MS Teams,Microsoft Certification; MCP, MCSE a bonus.Experience with Apple phones, tablets, and MacBooks a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to provide appropriate client support and interaction.Experience with remote control, Intune (MEM) computer enrollment.
