Inpatient Medical Coder

A company is looking for an Inpatient Medical Coder - PRN.

Key Responsibilities

Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes

Accurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records

Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, and champion documentation improvement opportunities

Required Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding facility experience

CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred

Associate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AHIMA / AAPC preferred

Experience at a Level I Trauma Center, preferably in an academic medical facility

Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software
