POSITION SUMMARY :
Cooking and preparation of foods as determined by the day’s menu for residents.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS
Plans cooking schedule to have all ready on meal time.
Responsible for pre-preparation and preparation of the meal of the day.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area after every meal.
Checks quality of food as to storage and fresh delivery.
Labels and dates leftovers.
Reports to supervisor as to what is to be done with leftovers.
Ensures complete sanitation in cooks’ area.
Fills out production schedules for the accuracy of preparation of food and portion control.
Is courteous in dealing with all members of the staff.
Ability to exercise judgment and initiative in preparing meals that are attractive and eye appealing.
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Tastes all food before serving.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Demonstrate ability to handle stressful situations.
Must be able to write & speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to see & hear or use prosthesis that will enable these senses to function.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, and move intermittently during working hours.
Wears safety non slip shoes
Ability to relate and work with the physically and emotionally challenged resident.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in English. Should have basic knowledge of standards of sanitation and food preparation.
