ER Tech

Job Summary :

This is a 13-week assignment for an ER Tech at a mandatory float facility. The ER Tech will provide direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse, performing clerical, communication, and other related duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of department services. The role requires full-time availability, including working every other weekend, and the ability to float at the facility's discretion.

Responsibilities :

• Assists patients in their routine activities of daily living, including range of motion, ambulation, positioning, skin care, linen changes, feeding, and hygiene.
• Assists with the collection of patient data and specimens, including urine, stool, and sputum.
• Obtains and records patient health data, including weights, vital signs, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, and I&O.
• Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
• Assists patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures, such as incentive spirometry and patient transport.
• Prepares rooms, provides post-mortem care, and assists with admissions and discharges.
• Assists nurses in emergency situations.
• Maintains and cleans equipment.
• Performs suction (oral, nasopharynx).
• Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
• Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
• Performs EKGs (department-specific responsibility).
• Answers unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
• Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
• Performs selected patient registration activities.
• Coordinates equipment / supply needs and notifies the appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
• Performs other related duties (e.g., clerical, technical duties) as assigned.
