Omni Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Accounting Generalist for the beautiful Interlocken Resort & Spa!

Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa is seeking an Accounting Generalist to join our outstanding finance team! This vital role will work closely with the Director of Finance and Finance Leaders to support the accounting and control functions at the hotel, while ensuring timely reporting of cash operations as well as maintain the accuracy of the Accounts Payable System.

Salary range for this position (based on experience) : $22.00 - $24.00 / hour . Full Time Associates at Omni Interlocken Resort are entitled to elect the following benefits : Medical, Dental, Vision and other healthcare benefits, Paid Maternity Leave, 401k and Paid Time Off Accrual.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for learning and assisting in completing the job duties of the following positions : Accounts Payable and General Cashier
  • Complete the General Cashier process daily, including the accurate balancing and submission of bank deposits.
  • Manage the cash handling procedures as required per Omni SOP’s.
  • Daily cash over short reconciliation, reporting, and follow up.
  • Controls House banks including all banks issued out to cash handling associate.
  • Maintains an accurate log to ensure terminated associates are removed from systems and final bank and safe key are collected.
  • Retrieves envelopes of Front Office and Food and Beverage cashiers from deposit vault and verifies totals.
  • Performs quarterly audits of the house banks as required per Omni SOP’s.
  • Train and setup new associates in Evention SecureDrop.
  • Maintain cash / coin levels of main safe. Ensures proper levels of change are kept on hand and submits requests for change orders.
  • Daily tax reconciliation.
  • Perform invoice reconciliation daily using Birchstreet program.
  • Communicate to department heads invoices requiring purchase orders daily and follow up periodically.
  • Manage Accounts Payable for retail purchases using Yellow Dog software.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned.
  • Assist departments with general ledger research and re-class entries.
  • Assist in Month End Closing.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Display and effectively communicate Omni Culture.
  • Assist with Audit requests.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.
  • Maintain open communication with all departments.
  • Other accounting disciplines as directed by Accounting Manager

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months accounting administrative experience, preferably to include hotel accounting experience, within past 3 years.
  • College degree or formal accounting education preferred.
  • Maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance.
  • Previous experience in high customer contact environment; with previous experience answering customer questions and handling customer concerns preferred.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and communication skills.
  • Excel proficiency is required.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting system.
  • Organized and have a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to research and accurately correct account variances.
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, both building and maintaining.
  • Able to meet deadlines and adhere to company policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
  • Takes initiative, Forward thinking.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
  • The ability to meet scheduling demands to include Monday-Friday office hours and weekends as needed.
