What You’ll Do
As an Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse, you’ll report to the Manager of Outpatient Surgery and provide professional nursing services. You will assess the needs of patients and initiate, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care. This role will collaborate with other professional, clinical, and ancillary staff in providing quality care to patients.
Outpatient Surgery RN Job Responsibilities
Safely and legally perform high-risk, high-frequency technical procedures.
Prioritize tasks based on patient needs, resources, and departmental goals.
Act promptly to reduce or prevent risks to patient health.
Advocate for patients and families to ensure appropriate outcomes.
Make decisions based on evidence, standards, and organizational values; seek help when needed.
Use internal / external resources to solve complex problems.
Develop and update care plans reflecting patient values and measurable goals.
Ensure continuity and effectiveness of care across settings.
Adjust interventions based on outcomes and patient feedback.
Document all care activities accurately and timely.
Communicate effectively with team members to support positive outcomes.
Delegate appropriately and remain accountable for results.
Stay current in clinical knowledge and contribute to departmental excellence.
Support coworkers through mentorship and feedback.
Complete assigned tasks and participate in meetings.
Fulfill all education, competency, health, and certification requirements on time.
Maintain active licensure and required certifications (e.g., BLS / CPR).
What You Bring
You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques. As a Registered Nurse, your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and others. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely. You understand the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.
Required Qualifications
Associate of Science in Nursing is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
Candidates hired after January 1, 2014, must have or obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment as a Registered Nurse, or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. The certification must be maintained based on accrediting body standards.
