We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional for a hybrid role with our Sacramento, California based client to serve as the Governance and Communications Lead. This role focuses on administrative support for governance bodies and the development of high-quality communication materials for executives and stakeholders. Given the breadth and demand for strategic communications, this position carries a heavy workload.. The individual will frequently collaborate with other team members (up to 25% of their time) to translate technical and program updates into clear, accessible communication products. Responsibilities include the following, as well as contribution to Policy and Process Lifecycle Management as needed for program updates and reporting. Specific ResponsibilitiesExecutive Communications Support Develop and maintain high-quality communication products, including briefing documents, presentations, talking points, and web content. Ensure leadership remains informed of program developments and can engage confidently with internal and external audiences. Produce communications that reinforce transparency, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals. AI and Data Governance Support Provide operational support to governance bodies by preparing materials, facilitating reviews, and tracking decisions. Ensure governance processes are structured, transparent, and well-documented. Support leadership in setting direction, managing oversight, and maintaining accountability across programs. Required5+ years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, or program coordination. Proven ability to create clear, concise, and professional written materials for executives and external audiences. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Experience supporting executive or governance-level meetings, including materials preparation and follow-up documentation. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills for cross-functional communication and coordination. PreferredExperience in public-sector communications or state agency environments. Familiarity with AI, data, or technology program communications. Knowledge of governance structures and executive decision-making processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva). Background in journalism, public relations, or executive communications preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred). Training or certification in communications, project management, or public affairs desirable.
