Provides health care services applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques.
Assists in diagnosis or treatment.
Performs radiographic imaging and computed tomography.
Demonstrates sectional anatomic images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services.
Maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
Provides appropriate patient care.
Recognizes conditions essential for successful completion of procedures.
Works under the supervision of the Department Manager.
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care of patients.
Cares for patients across all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures and computed tomography procedures.
Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedures.
Assures information is documented and available for licensed practitioner use.
Prepares patients for procedures.
Provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Operates radiographic and computed tomographic equipment.
Selects appropriate programs for desired protocols.
Positions patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest.
Respects patient ability and comfort.
Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure.
Assumes responsibility for the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
Verifies informed consent for and assists during interventional radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
Applies aseptic surgical techniques as required.
Prepares, identifies, and administers contrast media and / or medications as prescribed, when permitted by policy.
Evaluates images for technical quality.
Manipulates display parameters.
Provides hard copy records with proper identification.
Maintains archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
Initiates basic life support actions when necessary.
Provides patient education.
Assists in maintaining patient records while respecting confidentiality.
Assumes responsibility for the assigned area.
Reports equipment malfunctions.
Provides practical instruction for students and / or health care professionals.
Participates in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan.
May be responsible for specific quality control duties in the assigned area.
Maintains knowledge of and observes Standard precautions.
Applies patient relations skills.
Pursues appropriate continuing education.
Exercises independent judgment in trauma or code situations.
Maintains high-level interpersonal skills.
Protects patient rights and respects cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values.
