Safety Manager - K-12 Projects - DC Metro

Our client is a mid-sized general contractor with a strong footprint in DC and Maryland. With a self-perform division covering concrete, masonry, carpentry, and specialty trades, they deliver high-quality new construction and interior renovation projects-primarily for public sector clients including schools, parks, and government facilities. The leadership team brings deep industry experience and fosters a "shoulder-to-shoulder" mentality where everyone works together to get the job done. The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols across multiple active job sites. This person will be a visible leader in the field, driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Safety Manager - K-12 Projects - DC Metro will :

  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure OSHA compliance
  • Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training sessions
  • Develop and update company-wide safety manuals and procedures
  • Collaborate with field teams to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Track and report safety metrics and incidents consistently
  • Support labor coordination and field staff assignments based on skillsets
  • Recommend improvements to safety tracking and reporting systems
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization

The Safety Manager - K-12 Projects - DC Metro will have :

  • 5+ years of safety experience in commercial construction
  • OSHA 30 certification required; CHST, CSP, or OSHA outreach trainer preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with field teams
  • Experience with both interiors and ground-up construction projects
  • Ability to lead cultural change and drive engagement around safety
