Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your teams strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your teams actions align with the larger goals of the company and the Costco Digital Services (CDS) organization.

Managers in the Value Management Office (VMO) are accountable for developing and hiring the right people to drive exceptional project and program delivery. You will lead, equip and empower a team of highly skilled technical project managers to deliver value-driven business outcomes from the technology investments. As part of the VMO you will champion the value management framework and reinforce the CDS operating model. You will also partner with CDS leaders to successfully drive the delivery of priority initiatives within their areas and across CDS.

As the primary conduit between your employees and upper leadership, your role in communicating and modeling the values and guiding principles of our company culture is of vital importance. Role

Integrity : When achieving benchmarks and goals, use methods / strategies that are consistent with the Code of Ethics and the Standard of Ethics for Managers and Supervisors. Always leads by example. Appropriately handles employee concerns and follows through to resolution.

Member Service : Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.

Administration : Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, able to research and explain budget variances.

Managing Performance : Coaches and mentors employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill and ability.

Communication : Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

Self-Management : Demonstrates sound judgment, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

Inclusion : Encourages different approaches and ideas to work and to accomplish goals. Seeks employee input. Take the time to get to know or reach out to candidates who show potential that may not come forward on their own.

Compliance and Safety : Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.

Advocates for VMO objectives across the organization and contribute to furthering the mission to drive delivery of high value priorities and maximize technology investments.

Leads your VMO team to drive business value deliverables and timelines, facilitate decision making and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place to deliver solutions and ROI.

Develops and manages a team of highly qualified and professional technical project managers to lead project delivery.

Establishes an expectation of exceptional technical project management and value delivery and reinforces it with development and training opportunities.

Provides thoughtful and timely coaching and feedback to ensure department, business and company procedures and standards are met. Conducts yearly performance reviews.

Advances program processes and standards across the organization, aligning across methodologies (sequential, hybrid and agile), and drives organizational change and adoption.

Develops and maintains positive working relationships across and between business and technology teams.

Develops program measures to track overall program health and value realization.

Ensures effective communications of program related information to all levels of management and stakeholders.

Manages operational budgets and provide guidance and validation of project budgets and financial health.

Hires vendor partners as needed, manage all aspects of vendor relationships and hold vendors accountable to established SLAs and Costco standards.

Operates with a high sense of urgency and achieves progress against goals and metrics.

This is a full-time management / leadership position (45+ hours per week).

Required

5+ years experience as a manager with direct HR responsibility of project or agile delivery teams

5+ years experience managing a diverse portfolio of project or product delivery

Proven experience leading project professionals to deliver high priority, high value programs

Working knowledge of current Program, Project, Agile and change management trends and standards

Recommended

BA / BS degree

Experience managing teams through organizational change

Experience as a Project or Program Manager

Expert understanding of project management methodologies

Experience defining and measuring value and assessing return on investment

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Agile certification and experience leading agile teams

Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Range : $137,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
